Who is Jessica Schwinn?
My name is Jessica Schwinn. I attended the Centennial School District throughout the entirety of my K-12 schooling. I graduated from Centennial High School in 2009. I’ve lived in Centerville, Minnesota since 1995, when I moved here with my parents and younger brother. I attended the “little school” for Kindergarten, Centerville Elementary for grades 1-5, and then Centennial Middle School and Centennial High School. I have loved growing up in this community and school district.
I have a Bachelor of Science in Political Science, a K-6 Teacher's License, and a Master of Science in Teaching. I have been in education since 2013. In 2020, I started my own tutoring business so I could help students and support them in their learning.
I ran for Centennial ISD 12 School Board in 2022 and was elected by the community. I was sworn in to my position in January of 2023.
I hope to continue to serve this community and look forward to discussions with parents, students, teachers, staff members, and other community members.
Why I am running
I am running for re-election to continue to better the school district and give back to the community.
As a current school board member, I have focused on bettering communication in the district. Listening Sessions began in the 2023-2024 school year. Communication and transparency are key to keeping trust and good relationships with families, staff, and the community at large. While strides have been made, there is still much that can be done to improve.
As a licensed K-6 teacher with a Masters in Teaching, along with my experience on the Centennial School Board, and my time as a student in the district, I have indispensable knowledge about education and the district that allows a unique and invaluable contribution to the community and district.
My Experience
I graduated through the Centennial School District, class of '09. I've lived in Centerville, Minnesota since 1995. I have a Bachelor of Science in Political Science, a K-6 Teacher's License, and a Master of Science in Teaching. I have been in education since 2013. I ran for Centennial ISD 12 School Board in 2022 and was elected by the community. I was sworn in to my position in January of 2023.
Since 2023, I have served on the District Systems Accountability Committee. The committee is made up of teachers, admin, students, parents, community members, and two school board members. The District Systems Accountability Committee meets four times a school year to review and provide input on all aspects of curriculum, instruction, and assessment. I have continued to organize in the community with 4Centennial and other groups. This is in an effort to be transparent, keep the community informed, build trust, and keep open lines of communication with parents, students, teachers, staff members, and other community members. In 2026, I founded a community mutual aid network that has supported community families with various needs such as food, clothing, and bills.
